As a matter of fact, I wasn’t interested in bagels when I was in Japan.<\/span><\/p>\n

However, after I moved to Los Angeles, I tasted bagels and decide that I like them.<\/span><\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

Sometimes, I have a real craving for a bagel.<\/span><\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

On those occasions, I always go to the same bagel shop.<\/span><\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

This time I would like to introduce the bagel shop which serves the best bagels in Los Angeles, I think\u00a0 \u3000<\/span><\/p>\n

The history of the bagel\u00a0<\/span><\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n

Do you know where was created and how to bake it?<\/span><\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

The first bagel was produced in Jewish communities in a city called Krakow in Poland in about 1610<\/strong><\/span>.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

In the beginning, bagels were the food that was given as a gift for women in childbirth<\/strong><\/span>.<\/span><\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

The word “Bagel” is from Yiddish and the meaning is “ring” or ” bracelet”.\u00a0<\/span><\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

Then it became popular as a traditional food in Poland.<\/span><\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

In the 19th century, bagels were brought to the U.S. by immigrant Polish Jews who opened bagel businesses in New York City.<\/span><\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

One of the popular bagel eating styles for Jewish people is to serve with\u00a0“Lox,”<\/span><\/strong> which was also developed in the 19th century.<\/span><\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

“Lox” means a fillet of brined and smoked salmon in Yiddish.\u00a0<\/span>\u00a0<\/strong>It is usually served with cream cheese and tomato.<\/span><\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

The way to make bagels is very simple.<\/span><\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

A bagel is made from yeasted wheat<\/strong><\/span> and formed like a ring.<\/span><\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

After it is fermented<\/span><\/strong>, it is then boiled for a few minutes<\/span><\/strong> in the hot water.\u00a0 Then it is baked in the oven.<\/strong><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

T<\/span>raditional bagels are sprinkled with poppy seed or sesame seeds.<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

So, it is boiled and baked and that’s why it is crunchy outside and chewy inside.<\/span><\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

The bagel is a unique food don’t you think?\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

Also, the reason for the ring shape is easy to hang at the stores and easy to carry.<\/span><\/p>\n

Bagel are famous not only in New York City but also in Los Angeles.<\/span><\/p>\n

My husband is Jewish so he is\u00a0particular about bagels and he always goes to one place to buy bagels.<\/span><\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

It is called “Western Bagel”.<\/strong><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

In the 20th century, a man called\u00a0<\/span>Louis Ustin <\/span><\/span><\/strong>came to the U.S. to escape from the Russian Revolution.<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

He settled with his family in the Bronx, New York where he worked as a bagel baker for a while.<\/span><\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

Eventually, he opened his bagel shop in the Bronx. <\/span><\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

One day, he heard that there is no tasty bagel shop in California. <\/span><\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

He moved to Los Angeles and opened the first shop in 1947<\/strong><\/span>.<\/span><\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

He noticed that the tastes of the west coast were different from the East coast.<\/span><\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

So he developed a bagel that was softer and chewier than the typically dense and harder East coast style.<\/span><\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

People love Western Bagel’s taste and now they have 11 shops in Los Angels county.<\/span><\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

They are always busy on the weekend and we normally have to wait in line.<\/span><\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

There are many kinds of bagels. So it is hard to make a decision\u00a0<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

There are many varieties of bagel in the showcase.<\/span><\/figcaption><\/figure>\n

We choose a bagel and choose some content, like jam or cream cheese.<\/span><\/p>\n

My husband and I always order the same bagel, “Lox with cream cheese”.<\/span><\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

I order<\/span> 1<\/strong><\/span>00% Whole Wheat Bagel with Lox, cream cheese, and red onion.<\/span><\/strong><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

Of course, ask to warm up as well<\/span>\u00a0<\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

The price depends on the content, but around $6.00.<\/span><\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

Not only is the bagel tasty, but also it is easy on the wallet\u00a0<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

I went to several bagels shops before, but somehow the taste is much different and not tasty, at those other places.<\/span><\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

Always the same taste and so good at Western Bagel.<\/span><\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

It is just bagel, but it is still a big deal\u00a0<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

If you want to taste a bagel in Los Angeles, I will highly recommend going to this place!<\/span><\/p>\n
